Best Lake Geneva Friday Fish Fry
Friday night around Geneva Lake has a rhythm. Boats come in, somebody’s suddenly starving, and one person says the words that end the debate: fish fry?
This is your Friday dinner spoke for the Lake Geneva Summer Guide, sorted by town so you can find the closest fry to wherever you’re staying. Cod, perch, walleye, potato pancakes, coleslaw, rye bread, and a Brandy Old Fashioned within arm’s reach.
One warning before you drive: fish fry hours, prices, and seasonal schedules move fast here, especially in winter, on holiday weekends, and after 7 on a summer Friday. Click the link or call first. Wisconsin does not play about Friday wait times.
Lake Geneva, Lake Como & Geneva National
Downtown, Nick’s on Lake Geneva is the postcard: Wrigley Drive, water views, all-you-can-eat Pacific cod, first-come seating. Get there before the wait builds. Lake City Social runs a walkable downtown fry all week with a Friday discount, easy before or after the lakefront. Champs Sports Bar & Grill is the TVs-and-fish-fry-on-one-table pick, with walleye, cod, and fantail shrimp. Speedo’s Harborside Pub & Grill sits right by the harbor for a quick in-town stop.
For a lakefront dinner with a drive, Oak & Oar at The Geneva Inn does a south-shore fry with beer-battered cod and house tartar. The Baker House leans Victorian dinner-theater and takes reservations, usually 5 to 8. Two spots skip the classic cod: Barrique Bistro & Wine Bar runs Friday seafood and wine features instead of a fry, so check the special, and Magpie’s Den & Pen does a shrimp and crab boil with live music.
On the golf and resort side, Hawk’s View Golf Club serves Icelandic cod year-round with corn fritters and potato pancakes, reservations encouraged. It’s the easy call when you want polish without losing the point. Grand CafĂ© at Grand Geneva covers resort guests, Turf. Kitchen + Tap at Destination Geneva National covers the course communities, and Crafted Italia adds an Italian-slaw spin near the resorts.
Out on Lake Como, The Getaway, Mars Resort, and Next Door Pub Lakeside all run relaxed, close-to-the-water fries. Mars is the old-school supper-club nostalgia play. Holly’s Como Inn and DJ’s In The Drink fill out the Como options, and Foley’s Irish Woods is the classic bar and grill between downtown and the lake. Back in town, Next Door Pub & Pizzeria solves the group where not everyone wants fish, since pizza plus fish fry ends the negotiation.
And because sometimes Wisconsin just has to be Wisconsin, LG Axe Throwing pairs a two-piece cod dinner with axe lanes, while Owl Tavern gives you a historic tavern crowd away from the downtown rush.
Fontana & Abbey Springs
The Waterfront at The Abbey Resort starts its fry around 11 and runs into the evening, Spotted Cow-battered cod or walleye, easy if you’re staying on property. Gordy’s Boat House brings the full summer boat-house feeling with all-you-can-eat cod and perch, seasonal, so check opening dates. Chuck’s Lakeshore Inn is the longtime village bar stop, worth a call first.
Williams Bay
PIER 290 is one of the prettiest lakefront rooms on the lake, with panko cod, perch, walleye, and bluegill on the fry list. Harpoon Willie’s sits across from the water, beer-battered haddock with a potato pancake and applesauce, ideal after a Shore Path walk. Bay Cooks is the smaller in-town option.
Delavan & Delavan Lake
Delavan is supper-club country. Village Supper Club is the one to circle: fried or citrus-butter-baked cod, corn fritters, potato pancakes, and a room where Friday feels like Friday. The Duck Inn Supper Club matches it with all-you-can-eat cod, smelt, and perch, plus that linger-a-while mood. Jonathan’s on Brick Street is the more restaurant-forward downtown pick.
On the water, The Lookout at Lake Lawn Resort runs a reliable resort fry from 5 with Spotted Cow cod and hush puppies. Waterfront Pub & Grill, Watershed Saloon, and South Shore Bar & Grill all do casual all-you-can-eat cod close to the lake. Turtle Lake Tap & Grill adds jumbo shrimp and a summer patio crowd.
For big-menu taverns, look at Whiskey Ranch (fried walleye and cowboy shrimp), Fire2Fork (corn fritters with maple syrup, if that’s your thing), Pirate’s Cove, Lopez’s Anchor In, and The Rustic Pub. Greenie’s Clubhouse at Delbrook Golf Club is the golf-course casual option when it’s open, and Sweet Aroma Ristorante runs seasonal or Lenten fish specials rather than a standing Friday fry. Red’s on 7th may have changed names, so call before you count on it.
Elkhorn & Lauderdale Lakes
Evergreen Golf Club runs one of the better summer fries in the county, Friday 4 to 8 from mid-May through late September, with Spotted Cow cod, baked cod, corn fritters, and garlic breadsticks. River Jack’s has the widest Friday lineup around, cod, perch, tempura, and butterfly shrimp. Someplace Else is the easy downtown Elkhorn stop, Lauderdale Landing is the lakeside choice for the boat crowd, and The Blue Roadhouse is a call-first walleye-and-haddock option.
Walworth
Siemer’s Cruise-In is the friendly village pick, home of the Fat Tire fish fry, open late on Fridays. Sammy’s on the Square and Nayeli’s Pizza & Restaurant round out the village if you’re building a fuller Walworth night, though both are worth a call first.
Genoa City, Lyons, Sharon & Darien
South of the lake, Creekside Jack’s does fresh walleye at 5 with cozy creekside-lodge energy near the Nippersink. Herner’s Hideaway is the tucked-away all-you-can-eat local favorite with real old-Wisconsin character. Ye Olde Hotel in Lyons runs a long-standing Friday fry, 4 to 8, reservations often required. Fitzgerald’s Genoa Junction does a Wisconsin fish boil rather than a fry, worth it if you want the full show. Village Tap in Lyons, Boar’s Nest and West Wind Diner in Darien, and Coffee Cup Cafe and Tanner’s Grill & Bar in Sharon are call-first mentions for a deeper south-county run.
Whitewater
841 Brewhouse is the strongest Whitewater entry, fry from 4 with cod, bluegill, walleye, and a corn fritter. Second Salem Brewing pairs a three-piece cod or a 12-ounce walleye with your beer. Rick’s Eastside Pub keeps long hours for lunch-through-late flexibility, Binggs Farmstead brings the farmstead comfort-food angle, and Willow Brook Golf Course covers the Whitewater Lake side. Fat Jack’s, The Real MacCoys, Jessica’s Family Restaurant, and SteveO’s Flip Flops & Tank Tops fill out the town, with the last three worth confirming first.
East Troy & Lake Beulah
Lulabell’s Dockside is the dockside summer-night spot on Lake Beulah, Icelandic cod fried or baked, fish menu Wednesdays and Fridays. East Troy House does its “Fintastic Friday Fish” on the historic village square, a solid anchor for the northern edge of the map.
Twin Lakes, Powers Lake & Salem Lakes
Aces Sports Bar & Grill and Sand Bar & Island Grill cover the Twin Lakes waterfront, Aces for all-you-can-eat, Sand Bar for a tropical-lakefront feel. The Blue Goose is the very-local 1926 tavern with cod, walleye, and potato pancakes. Copper Bottom in Salem Lakes is the big-value all-you-can-eat pick Friday and Saturday. The Rock Bar II near Powers Lake is a call-first mention.
Burlington area
Waterfront on Brown’s Lake is the lake-dining option out here, Friday specials usually 3:30 to 9. Lucky Star Pub & Eatery keeps it casual with an easy online menu, and Countryside Pub is the out-of-the-way rural stop between Burlington and the lake. Friday fish fry FAQs
What comes with a traditional Wisconsin fish fry?
Fried or baked fish, usually cod, perch, walleye, haddock, or bluegill, plus coleslaw, tartar sauce, rye bread, lemon, and a German potato pancake served with apple sauce. Around here, potato pancakes and applesauce are practically their own love language.
Do these places take reservations?
Some do, some don’t. Golf clubs, supper clubs, and resort restaurants often take them, while busy lakefront spots seat first-come. Call ahead on summer Fridays, and definitely call if your party is bigger than 6.
What time should I go?
Early. The 5 to 7 window fills fast at the popular Lake Geneva, Fontana, Williams Bay, and Delavan spots, especially Memorial Day through Labor Day and on holiday weekends.
Is fish fry only a Lent thing?
No. Lent is the busy season, but most of these restaurants, supper clubs, and taverns fry year-round. Summer Fridays around the lake just hit different because everyone’s already in weekend mode.
