Quick answer: Lake Geneva’s biggest annual events are Winterfest (Feb 3 to 7, 2027), Restaurant Week (mid to late April), July 4 fireworks, the Venetian Festival (mid to late August), the Walworth County Fair (Labor Day week), Dragon Days (first weekend of October) and Oktoberfest (early to mid-October).

Events by town around the lake

Lake Geneva

The busiest calendar on the lake: Winterfest, Restaurant Week, Concerts in the Park, the Venetian Festival, Maxwell Street Days, Dragon Days, Oktoberfest and the Christmas parade, plus the Thursday market. See the Lake Geneva guide.

Williams Bay

The Friday farmers market at Edgewater Park, the Corn & Brat Festival in August and music on the water at PIER 290. A quieter lakefront than downtown Lake Geneva. See the Williams Bay guide.

Fontana

The west end of the lake: July 4 on the beach, weekend music at Bar West and the start of the Shore Path. See the Fontana guide.

Delavan

Free summer concerts at the Phoenix Park Bandshell, Delavan Lakefest before July 4 and shows at The Belfry. See the Delavan guide.

Elkhorn

The county seat and home of the fairgrounds: Ribfest, the county fair, the Antique Flea Market and Saturdays on the Square. See the Elkhorn guide.

Local tip: On a summer Saturday, have dinner on the deck at PIER 290 in Williams Bay, watch the sun go down over the bay, then walk a stretch of the Geneva Lake Shore Path as the lights come on around the lake.

How to plan a weekend around a Lake Geneva event

Book lodging first. Venetian Festival, July 4, Winterfest and fall color weekends fill hotels and resorts weeks ahead. Condotels are a good fallback.

Park once. Downtown lots fill by late morning on festival days. Park up the hill and spend the day on foot, or stay in Williams Bay or Fontana and drive in early.

Time the drive. Chicago is about 90 minutes in normal traffic. On festival Fridays, leave before 2 p.m. or after 7 p.m.

Check the week’s list. Small events like live music, fish fries and pop-up markets don’t make the annual calendar. They’re in the weekly roundup.

Mistakes event-goers make

Trusting last year’s dates. Most events move a few days each year. Check the calendar above or the organizer’s site before you book.

Driving downtown at 5 p.m. on a festival night. Arrive by mid-afternoon or plan to park several blocks away.

Forgetting a chair. Concerts in the Park and the fireworks are lawn seating.

Skipping the towns nearby. Elkhorn, Delavan, Twin Lakes and Williams Bay run some of the best events, 10 to 20 minutes away.
