Mistakes to avoid
Driving downtown at noon Saturday. Use the free shuttle from Edwards Boulevard.
Not booking a room. Oktoberfest weekend is one of the busiest of the fall. Book now, or stay in Williams Bay, Fontana or Delavan.
Waiting on beer crawl tickets. The organizer says it sells out every year.
Forgetting a layer. Flat Iron Park sits on the lake, and it gets cold fast after 5 p.m.
If you’re moving here
Oktoberfest is one of the weekends that shows what downtown Lake Geneva is like when it’s busy. Condos and older homes sit a few blocks from Flat Iron Park, and the shuttle lots on Edwards Boulevard sit north of Highway 50, a short ride from the lakefront.
Elkhorn, Delavan and Williams Bay each have their own fall festivals and downtowns, 10 to 20 minutes away.
