What’s Happening at The Lake: Darien Corn Fest, East Troy Bluegrass and Fall Weekends, September 9 to 15, 2026
Two festivals anchor the week of September 9 to 15, 2026, and both sit within half an hour of Geneva Lake. The Darien Corn Fest runs Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13 at West Park in Darien, about 20 minutes west. The 32nd East Troy Bluegrass Festival runs Saturday and Sunday on the East Troy square, about 25 minutes north.
The lake itself goes quiet this week. Weekend crowds thin out after Labor Day, the beaches empty, and the good stuff moves inland to the small towns.
Here’s the week, what it costs, and who’s playing.
The Week at a Glance
Between September 9 and 15, 2026, the two main events near Lake Geneva, Wisconsin are the Darien Corn Fest, September 11 to 13 at West Park in Darien, and the East Troy Bluegrass Festival, September 12 and 13 on the East Troy village square. Darien Corn Fest, September 11 to 13
The Darien Corn Fest is held at West Park in Darien, Wisconsin, about 20 minutes west of Lake Geneva just off I-43 at Exit 15 on Highway 14. The 2026 dates are Friday, September 11 through Sunday, September 13. The weekend includes a carnival, craft fair, live music on the Miller Lite Stage, Friday night fireworks, free sweet corn, a Sunday parade, and tractor pulls. Walking the grounds is free.
This is the 65th Corn Fest, which makes it older than most of what happens around this lake, and it has stayed a village event the whole time. Volunteers run it. The corn is free because somebody donates it.
Where: West Park, Darien, just east of I-43 at Exit 15 on Highway 14 Website: dariencornfest.us Best for: A carnival-and-fireworks Friday, or a Sunday parade with tractors in it One catch: No pets. The organizers ask specifically, and they mean it.
Friday is the opener. Two Beer Tommy plays country and line dancing on the Miller Lite Stage from 7 to 11 PM, and the fireworks go up at sundown, which lands around 7:10 PM that week. Bring a blanket and get there before dark.
Saturday is the long day. D’Lite Duo plays noon to 4 PM, another act takes the 4 to 7 slot, and The Cheap Shots close it out 7 to 11 PM. The craft fair, carnival, and the softball and volleyball tournaments all run through the afternoon.
Sunday belongs to machinery and the parade. The WeakEnd Antique Pullers are new to the schedule this year and start at 9 AM. Then the parade lines up at 10, judging starts at 11, and it steps off at noon sharp along a 3/4-mile route that ends at the fest grounds.

What the Corn Fest Weekend Costs
Walking in costs nothing. So does the parade, the fireworks, the craft fair, and the sweet corn, which is handed out free on Saturday and Sunday.
You pay for carnival rides, food, and whatever you buy from a vendor. The carnival runs wristband specials, though the organizers publish those on their social feed rather than the website, so check before you count on a price.
Parking at the fest grounds is the easy option and there’s a lot of it. On Sunday morning the streets near the parade route get blocked or turned one-way for lineup, so if you’re coming for the parade, park at the grounds and walk back toward the route rather than trying to thread in from the north.
For more in the area that costs nothing this month, our free things to do guide covers the rest of it.
The 32nd East Troy Bluegrass Festival, September 12 and 13
The East Troy Bluegrass Festival takes place on the village square along Main Street in East Troy, Wisconsin, about 25 minutes north of Lake Geneva. The 2026 edition is the 32nd annual and runs Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. Twelve bands play across the two days. Wristbands are $20 per day or $35 for the weekend, and children 16 and under are free. The rain venue is East Troy Bible Church at 2660 North St.
Running since 1994, it’s the longest-running bluegrass festival in Wisconsin and the first one to plant the music in this corner of the state. Twelve bands, two days, lawn chairs on a village square. That’s the whole format and it hasn’t needed changing.
| Time | Saturday, Sept 12 | Sunday, Sept 13 |
|---|---|---|
| 10:00 | The Bott Family, gospel service | |
| 11:00 | Genesee Ridge | Romano and Cheezy Charlizey |
| 12:00 | Coffee Creek | They Talk Too Much |
| 1:00 | The Stop and Listen String Band | Cerny and Ogburn |
| 2:00 | Band Scramble | Bluegrass Allstars |
| 3:00 | Piper Road Spring Band | The Covington Crew |
| 4:00 to 5:30 | Lonesome River Band | Nick Chandler and Delivered |
Schedule per the festival’s own page.
Wristbands: $20 per day, $35 for the weekend, sold by volunteers as you enter the square or at the headquarters tent Jammers: $10 per day with an instrument in hand Rain plan: East Troy Bible Church, 2660 North St., with parking and accessible entry One catch: Bring your own chair. It’s a square, not a venue.
The 2 PM Saturday Band Scramble is the one to watch if you’ve never been. Players get shuffled into groups that have never performed together and have to make it work in front of everybody.
East Troy’s square has enough around it to fill the gaps between sets, and J. Lauber’s with its 1920s soda fountain is a block away. Our East Troy community guide has the rest.
Markets Still Running This Week
Thursday morning downtown is still the reliable one. The Lake Geneva Farmer’s Market runs 8 AM to 1 PM at Horticultural Hall on Broad Street, rain or shine, and it keeps going through October 29.
Thursday, September 10 is the last 2026 date for the Tower Park market in downtown Delavan, 3 to 7 PM. If you’ve been meaning to get there, this is it.
The Friday market in Williams Bay closed September 4 and the Saturday market in Elkhorn closed September 5, so don’t drive out to either. Genoa City runs Fridays through September 25.
Kim and Joel’s take: September is when the lake stops performing and starts behaving like a place people live. Same water, a quarter of the traffic, and every small town within 30 minutes throws its own party. Buyers who only ever visit in July have no idea this version exists. Search homes around Geneva Lake and the Southern Lakes
Doing Both on Saturday
It works, and the timing is better than you’d guess.
Bluegrass on the East Troy square wraps at 5:30 after the Lonesome River Band set. Darien is about 35 minutes southwest from there. The Cheap Shots start at 7 in Darien. That’s a comfortable gap with room for a stop.
Going the other direction is worse. Corn Fest’s daytime pull is the craft fair and carnival, and leaving Darien mid-afternoon means missing the Saturday music entirely and arriving in East Troy for the last set only.
So: bluegrass first, corn second. Sunday, pick one. The parade is at noon in Darien and the gospel service opens the square at 10 in East Troy, and there’s no version where you get both.
Either way you’ll want dinner between them. Our restaurant guide covers the lake side, and both festivals have food on the grounds.

The Shore Path is at its best right now and almost empty on a weekday morning. The full running list lives in our Lake Geneva events calendar, and What’s Happening at The Lake lands every Wednesday.
