Your full 4th of July weekend at the lake: a day-by-day 2026 plan

The long weekend starts tomorrow, so here’s everything in one place.

We’ve spent the week digging into the 4th of July across Walworth County, and it turned into three full guides: where to watch every firework, drone show, and parade, the best things to do beyond the fireworks, and the complete live music schedule. This is the planner that pulls it all together, hour by hour, Thursday through Sunday.

A few things to know before you build your plan. America turns 250 this year, so the lineups are bigger than usual. The only fireworks over Geneva Lake on the 4th go up from Fontana. Lake Geneva is doing a drone show instead.

Now, the weekend.

Thursday, July 2

The warm-up day, and it’s busier than you’d think.

  • Concerts in the Park returns to the Brunk Pavilion at Flat Iron Park, 6:00 to 8:00 PM, free. Bring a blanket and watch the boats go by.
  • Delavan runs a double bill: the Red, White & BREW Market at Tower Park from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with 50-plus vendors, then the Stars, Stripes & Streetlights Street Dance on the downtown brick road with the Love Monkeys from 6:30 to 9:30 PM and a laser light show to close.
  • Wave That Flag opens at Jennings Holler in Eagle, a three-day Grateful Dead festival running July 2 to 4 with Mr. Blotto, the Joe Marcinek Band, and more. Camping’s included. It sits right in the Kettle Moraine, about 20 minutes out. Tickets at jenningsholler.com.
  • Whitewater’s 4th of July Festival kicks off at Cravath Lakefront Park, carnival at 4:00 PM and the pageant at 6:00 PM.

Friday, July 3

The first real fireworks night, and there are four shows.

  • Elkhorn’s Star Spangled Celebration at Sunset Park starts at 5:00 PM with the Holton Band, food from the FFA and 4-H, and free fireworks at dusk. The easiest parking of the weekend.
  • The Grand Geneva runs its resort celebration with fireworks at dusk. The show is usually visible from Veterans Park or the Geneva Square lot if you’re not a guest.
  • The Lake Geneva Country Club show goes up over the east end of the lake. You can catch it from the water on a Lake Geneva Cruise Line fireworks tour.
  • Twin Lakes Libertyfest takes over Lance Park from 4:00 to 10:00 PM with the Aquanut water ski show on Lake Mary and fireworks at dusk.
  • Old World Wisconsin opens its brand-new Welcome Center in Eagle, the kickoff to a 50th anniversary weekend (more on Saturday).
  • Live music: the Palmyra-Eagle Community Band plays the Phoenix Park Bandshell in Delavan at 7:00 PM, and Pier 290 in Williams Bay has acts on the patio and inside all night.

Saturday, July 4

The main event. This is the big one, so pick your spots early.

Daytime:

  • Delavan starts with the Fire Department pancake breakfast at 7:00 AM, then All American Game Day at Phoenix Park from noon to 5:00 PM.
  • Whitewater runs the Whippet Mile at 9:30 AM and its America 250 parade at 10:00 AM.
  • Twin Lakes and Sharon both step off their parades at 11:00 AM.
  • Old World Wisconsin celebrates its 50th and America’s 250th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a flag parade through Crossroads Village, historic Base Ball, and a pie-eating contest.
  • The Abbey Resort in Fontana runs a full day on the Harbor Lawn, 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Freedom Wristbands $25 for guests and $30 for the public.

Evening and fireworks:

  • Liberty on the Lake at Flat Iron Park runs 5:00 to 9:30 PM, with EZFM playing yacht rock from 6:00 to 8:30 PM and the drone show over Geneva Lake at 9:00 PM. Free.
  • Fontana launches the only fireworks over Geneva Lake at dusk. Watch from Fontana Beach, Reid Park, the west-end shoreline, or The Abbey’s lawn.
  • Geneva National’s private show goes up over Lake Como at dusk. If you’re not a member, the south-shore supper clubs (The Lodge, The Getaway, and Mars) put you right under it. Reserve a table early.
  • Delavan’s city fireworks launch at 9:00 PM from Borg Stadium, after the afternoon parade and a flag ceremony.
  • Sharon lights up at dusk over Goodland Memorial Park.
  • Whitewater closes its festival with fireworks over Cravath Lake at 9:45 PM.
  • Lauderdale Lakes runs its show over Don Jean Bay at 9:30 PM, made for boaters, with music on WLKG 96.1 FM.
  • Out on Geneva Lake, the Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs a Drone Show Cruise at 8:00 PM ($60) and a Fireworks Jazz Dinner Cruise at 7:30 PM ($90).

Live music on the 4th: East Troy’s Celebrates America Block Party fills Village Square with bands and family activities all day (no fireworks there this year). Telstar plays inside at Pier 290 in Williams Bay from 7:00 to 11:00 PM. And a John Mellencamp tribute closes out the Phoenix Park Bandshell in Delavan.

Sunday, July 5

Wind-down day, and a good one if you’d rather skip the crowds.

  • Old World Wisconsin runs its second celebration day, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in Eagle.
  • Whitewater wraps its festival starting at noon with a petting zoo, dunk tank, and balloon artist.
  • Wave That Flag plays out its final day at Jennings Holler.
  • On the water, the Gage Marine Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs a Sunday Brunch Cruise at 11:00 AM and a sunset Cocktail Cruise at 6:30 PM.

A few things worth booking now

The weekend’s just the start of the summer. Three to put on the calendar:

BloomFest, July 10 and 11 at Royal Oak Farm in Harvard, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. U-cut flower fields, a petting zoo, and the bakery’s donuts.

Williams Bay’s fireworks, August 8, the Saturday-night show during the Maxwell Street Days corn roast weekend at Edgewater Park. This is the Williams Bay lakefront display, just later in the summer than most expect.

The Venetian Festival, August 19 to 23 on the Lake Geneva lakefront, with the lighted boat parade and fireworks to close it out.

Thinking past the weekend?

Kim and Joel Reyenga are real estate and lifestyle guides serving Walworth County, and they’ve watched this weekend do its thing for years. A family comes up for the 4th, spends three days bouncing between the lake, a sunset cruise, and a small-town parade, and somewhere around the Sunday drive home, somebody says it out loud: what if we did this all the time?

If that’s the conversation in your car this year, take a look at current Wisconsin home listings across the Geneva Lake region. Kim and Joel know every one of these communities, and they’re glad to talk through what living here looks like the other 51 weekends of the year.

Frequently asked questions

Where should I start if I only do one thing on the 4th of July?

For most people it’s Liberty on the Lake at Flat Iron Park: food trucks and live music from 5:00 PM, EZFM at 6:00, and the drone show over Geneva Lake at 9:00, all free. If you want classic fireworks instead, head to Fontana for the only show over Geneva Lake on the 4th.

Are there fireworks in the Lake Geneva area on July 3?

Yes, four of them: Elkhorn, the Grand Geneva, the Lake Geneva Country Club show over the east end of the lake, and Twin Lakes Libertyfest. Friday is the busiest fireworks night of the weekend.

Does East Troy have fireworks on the 4th of July this year?

No. East Troy’s Lions Club Music Festival, fireworks, and parade moved to mid-June for 2026. On the 4th, East Troy hosts the Celebrates America Block Party with live music and activities, but no fireworks.

Where can I watch fireworks from a boat?

Fontana’s show is a favorite from the water on Geneva Lake, Lauderdale Lakes runs its display over Don Jean Bay for boaters, and the Lake Geneva Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs fireworks and drone-show cruises both July 3 and July 4. They sell out, so book ahead.

Whatever you pick, get there early and have a great 250th.
