Lake Geneva Events August 2026: Venetian Festival Week and What Comes Next
Quick answer: The 64th annual Lake Geneva Jaycees Venetian Festival runs Wednesday, August 19 through Sunday, August 23, 2026, across Flat Iron Park, Library Park, and Seminary Park in downtown Lake Geneva. This year promises to be a highlight in the lake geneva events august 2026 calendar. Walking the grounds is free. The lighted boat parade and fireworks over Geneva Bay close the festival Sunday night.
This is the busiest week of the Lake Geneva year, and it changes how the whole town works for 5 days. Traffic, parking, dinner reservations, all of it.
Here’s what’s running this week, what it costs, and what’s coming between now and mid-October.
Venetian Festival 2026 Runs August 19 to 23
The 64th annual Lake Geneva Jaycees Venetian Festival takes place Wednesday, August 19 through Sunday, August 23, 2026, in downtown Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. The festival spans Flat Iron Park, Library Park, and Seminary Park along the north shore of Geneva Lake. This event is among the most anticipated lake geneva events august 2026. Grounds admission is free. The carnival, Arts and Crafts Fair, car show, water ski show, lighted boat parade, and fireworks all run inside those 5 days.
The 3 parks sit in a row, so you can cover the whole thing on foot without moving your car once.
| Day | The shape of it |
|---|---|
| Wednesday, Aug 19 | Ribbon cutting at 5 PM, carnival wristband night, quietest evening of the 5 |
| Thursday, Aug 20 | Second wristband night, still thin crowds |
| Friday, Aug 21 | Carnival runs later, country music in the pavilion |
| Saturday, Aug 22 | Craft fair, Touch a Truck, Baggo tournament, the biggest crowd of the week |
| Sunday, Aug 23 | Car show, craft fair, ski show, boat parade, fireworks |
Hours, wristband windows, and the full band schedule are all in our Venetian Festival 2026 guide, which we keep current against the Jaycees’ official schedule.
If you only have one night, take Sunday. If you only have one afternoon, take Saturday.
What Costs Nothing This Week
Most of the festival is free, which surprises people who assume a 5-day event with a carnival attached must have a gate.
Free: the grounds, the Arts and Crafts Fair both days, the Sunday car show, Touch a Truck on Saturday afternoon, the Wonder Lake Ski Team show at 6 PM Sunday, the lighted boat parade, and the fireworks. The Terry Byrne Band set Saturday from 3 to 6 PM is also free admission, which makes it the cheapest live music of the weekend.
You pay for 3 things. The Entertainment Pavilion, which is the beer tent, charges a $5 cover after 6 PM and is strictly 21 and over with ID. Carnival rides need tickets or a $40 all-you-can-ride wristband on wristband days, sold through the official carnival page. And food.
For more that costs nothing the same week, our free things to do guide covers the rest of it.
The Sunday Car Show, and the Fall Car Calendar
The Venetian Festival Car Show is listed for Sunday, August 23, 2026, from 11 AM to 3 PM in downtown Lake Geneva, on the final day of the festival. It is the second year for the show, open to classic cars, hot rods, and customs, with awards and dash plaques. It is the only car show inside the city limits in August.
When: Sunday, August 23, 11 AM to 3 PM Where: The lakefront end of the festival footprint, downtown Lake Geneva Best for: Anyone already coming for the last day One catch: The Jaycees don’t publish a registration form or fee. If you want to show a car rather than look at one, call before you load a trailer.
Get there early in the window. An 11 to 3 show means the best cars are parked by 11:30, and some owners pull out at 2:30 to beat festival traffic.
Lake Geneva has no weekly cruise night, so the rest of the car calendar sits outside town. Our classic car meetups guide has the full ring of them with drive times attached, including the Tichigan Lake Lions charity show in Waterford on Sunday, August 30, the Beloit Autorama on September 20, and the Fall Jefferson Swap Meet on September 25 and 26.
Live Music During Festival Week
The pavilion has a band every night of the festival, and the Saturday afternoon set is the free one.
Away from the festival, the regular rhythm of the lake keeps going: Wednesday nights downtown, Thursday nights on Lake Como and in Williams Bay, weekend patios at the resorts. Our live music around Lake Geneva guide has the venue-by-venue breakdown. We are running a full week-by-week music rundown tomorrow.
One note: the free Concerts in the Park series at Flat Iron Park wrapped for 2026 on August 6. The Thursday lakefront concerts are done until next June.
What Else Is Running Around the Lake
The festival takes the evenings. The days are still yours, and late August is the best stretch of water the lake gets all year.
- Boat tours. A cruise puts the festival waterfront in a completely different perspective. See the boat tours guide.
- The Shore Path. Best before the heat, and the western stretch is the quiet place to watch Sunday’s fireworks. Path guide here.
- Beaches. Open before the carnival does at noon. See the beaches guide.
- A backup plan. August storms move fast here. The rainy day activities list is the one to have open on your phone.
Book dinner ahead. Downtown restaurants run at capacity Friday through Sunday during festival week, and a 6 PM walk-in is optimistic. Our restaurant guide is the place to start.
After Venetian: Labor Day Through Mid-October
Venetian is the peak, and the calendar doesn’t go quiet afterward.
| Date | Event | Where | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sun, Aug 30 | Tichigan Lake Lions charity car show | Waterford Town Park, 20 mi northeast | Free to walk |
| Sept 2 to 7 | Walworth County Fair, 177th year | Elkhorn fairgrounds, 8 mi west | Gate admission |
| Sun, Sept 20 | Beloit Autorama, 50th year | Preservation Park, Beloit, 31 mi west | Ticketed |

| Sat, Oct 10 | Nick Caselli Rocking Car Show, Williams Bay Lions | Edgewater Park, Williams Bay, 6 mi west | See organizer |
| Sat, Oct 17 | Elkhorn Oktoberfest and classic car show | Downtown Elkhorn square | Free |
The Walworth County Fair opens over Labor Day weekend with the theme “Glitter and Gold: A Fair to Behold.” It’s Wisconsin’s largest county fair, it’s been running since 1849, and it lands 10 days after Venetian wraps. If you liked one, you’ll like the other.
October has 2 car Saturdays back to back. The Williams Bay Lions run the Nick Caselli Rocking Car Show at Edgewater Park on the 10th, 6 miles west of here and the closest organized car show to the lake. Elkhorn Oktoberfest and its show follow on the 17th, and that one is a different animal from the Lake Geneva Oktoberfest celebrations. Our Lake Geneva events calendar tracks the rest of the fall, and the weekly What’s Happening at The Lake roundup lands every Wednesday morning.
Parking During Festival Week
This is where most visitors lose 30 minutes and $20 they didn’t need to spend.
Downtown Lake Geneva runs pay-by-plate metered parking, enforced daily from 9 AM to 7 PM. Per the City of Lake Geneva fee schedule, it’s $2 per hour Monday through Thursday and $4 per hour Friday through Sunday, with a 5-hour cap on most stalls.
Two city lots are free: Lot D on Sage Street behind the Geneva Lake Museum, about 0.3 miles from the lakefront, and Lot E at Dunn Field, about 0.4 miles. Lot I next to Seminary Park allows 10-hour stays instead of the usual 5, which matches how long a festival day actually runs.
The walk out is longer than the walk in. Everybody leaves at once when the last shell goes up, and parking in Lot D or Lot E means walking away from the jam instead of sitting in it.
Kim and Joel’s take: Venetian week is when second-home shoppers get serious. People stand on that lakefront Sunday night, watch the fireworks, and start doing the math on what it would take to be here every August. If that’s you, the math is more interesting than most people expect. Search homes around Geneva Lake and the Southern Lakes
Where to Stay if You Haven’t Booked
Late August is peak season on Geneva Lake and Venetian weekend is the busiest of it. If downtown Lake Geneva is full, look at Williams Bay, Fontana, Delavan, and Elkhorn before giving up.
Staying on the west end and driving in costs 15 to 20 minutes each way, which is usually less than the difference in what you’d pay downtown that weekend. Our Lake Geneva resorts guide covers the properties with room to absorb a festival crowd.
