What live music is around Lake Geneva this weekend?
Saturday is the big day. Duesterbeck’s Brewing near Elkhorn runs its 7th annual Oktoberfest on October 3 from 10 AM to 10 PM, with the Mike Schneider Band, Alpine Blast Trio and Jon Bon Stamos. The Belfry Music Theatre has The Heart of Rock and Roll, a Huey Lewis and the News tribute, Friday and Saturday at 7 PM.
The rest is resort and lakeside bar music: Grand Geneva’s Lobby Bar, Mars Resort and The Getaway on Lake Como, Pier 290 in Williams Bay and 3 rooms at The Abbey in Fontana. That’s 21 sets at 7 venues, and every time below comes from the venue’s own calendar, checked September 30.
First weekend of October, and most of the music has moved inside.
Most, but the farm is the exception. Duesterbeck’s splits Oktoberfest between its Pig Barn Stage and its Patio Stage, so bring a jacket for the afternoon set. Everything else this weekend is a bar stool, a dinner table or a theater seat.

This is the 7th year for Duesterbeck’s Oktoberfest, on a 5th-generation family farm between Elkhorn and Delavan. You can hear 9 hours of music on 1 property, with German food from JR European Cuisine, pizza by the slice and a kids area in the Hops Yard from 10 AM to 4 PM.
Two timing notes. The barrel-aged Oktoberfest beer comes out at noon and the brewery calls the supply very limited. Tanzlustig teaches German dancing at 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM, so time your polka lesson around the band you want.

The Lobby Bar is the easy rainy-night pick, since it’s indoors by the fire. Heads up: the resort calendar skips Sunday this week and picks back up Monday.
If you’d rather have a DJ after the trio, Evolve runs one Friday and Saturday from 9 PM to 2 AM.
