4th of July fireworks, drone shows, and parades in the Lake Geneva area: your 2026 America 250 guide
This is the biggest 4th of July fireworks weekend the Lake Geneva area has seen in years.
America turns 250 on July 4, 2026, and Walworth County is treating it like the milestone it is. Towns from Delavan to Whitewater have been planning for months, and the payoff is a calendar packed straight through July 5. Drone shows, lakefront fireworks, small-town parades, and a 10-day festival in Delavan. It’s a lot.
So here’s the full rundown, community by community, with dates, times, and where to stand.
One quick orientation first, because the geography trips people up every year. Geneva Lake is the water. Lake Geneva is the city on its east end. And the only fireworks going up over Geneva Lake itself on the 4th launch from Fontana, on the west end. The city of Lake Geneva is doing a drone show this year instead. More on both below.
We’ve split our 4th of July coverage to keep it usable. This is the fireworks, drone show, and parade guide. You’ll also want our roundup of things to do beyond the fireworks and the day-by-day weekend plan. For ideas any time of year, start with things to do in Lake Geneva.

Lake Geneva: Liberty on the Lake and the drone show
The city of Lake Geneva is skipping traditional fireworks and putting up a drone show over Geneva Lake. More than 200 lighted drones trace patterns across the sky at 9:00 PM to tell the story of America’s 250 years. If you’ve never seen one, it’s quieter than fireworks and a lot easier on the dogs and the veterans in the crowd.
July 4 | Flat Iron Park, 201 Wrigley Dr. | 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM | Free
The night opens at 5:00 PM with food trucks and family entertainment. EZFM, a Midwest yacht rock band, plays from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. Then the drones go up at 9:00 PM. Metered parking fills fast near the lakefront, so plan to walk a few blocks or arrive by 4:30 PM. Details are at the Liberty on the Lake event page.
Want to watch from the water? The Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs fireworks tours on July 3 for the Lake Geneva Country Club show, departing Riviera Docks. Book through the Lake Geneva Cruise Line.
Fontana: the only fireworks over Geneva Lake on the 4th
If you want classic fireworks reflecting off Geneva Lake on Independence Day, Fontana is the spot. The village launches its show from the west end of the lake every year, and it’s one of the best on the water.
July 4 | Fontana Beach, South Lake Shore Dr. | Dusk | Free
Watch from Fontana Beach, Reid Park, or anywhere along the west-end shoreline. Parking fees apply in the village, so get there early. If you’re on a boat, this is the show to anchor up for.
The Abbey Resort makes a day of it
Right next door, The Abbey Resort turns the 4th into an all-day party with the best lawn seats for the Fontana show.
July 4 | 269 Fontana Blvd. | 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM | Freedom Wristband $25 to $30
A Freedom Wristband gets you inflatables, crafts, lawn games, and Uncle Sam’s birthday fun at the West Shore Pavilion. When the sun drops, the Harbor Lawn gives you a clean look at the fireworks over the lake. Wristbands run $25 for resort guests and $30 for the public. Details at The Abbey Resort.
Williams Bay: pancakes, not fireworks
Heads up, because this one confuses people. Williams Bay does not run fireworks on July 4. Its big lakefront show happens in August during Lions Club Corn & Brat. So if you’re in the Bay on the 4th, point yourself toward Fontana for fireworks.
What Williams Bay does have on the 4th is a great small-town morning.
July 4 | Edgewater Park | 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM | $10, cash only
The Williams Bay Lions Club Pancake Day and Craft Fair is the tradition here. Eat your fill of all-you-can-eat pancakes, then walk the park and shop the craft vendors. Information is at the Williams Bay Lions. The Recreation Department also runs a morning patriotic paddle on the lake for decorated kayaks and paddleboards, so check the village rec calendar if you want to get out on the water.
Walworth: share the western-shore show
The village of Walworth sits just back from the west end of Geneva Lake, minutes from Fontana. There’s no separate Walworth fireworks show, so the move on the 4th is simple: head to the Fontana lakefront for the western-shore display, or settle in along the shoreline closer to home.
Geneva National and Lake Como: a private show with a public view
Geneva National throws a private 4th of July party for members and guests, and the fireworks go up over the Lake Como side of the property. Member and guest details are at destinationgn.com.
July 4 | Geneva National Clubhouse, 1221 Geneva National Ave. S. | Festivities 5:00 PM, fireworks at dusk | Ticketed, members and guests only
Here’s the part worth knowing if you’re not a member: the show is easy to see from the south shore of Lake Como. The supper clubs along that shore turn it into a dinner-and-fireworks night. The Lodge, The Getaway, and Mars Resort all sit on the Como south shore, so you can grab a table, order the fish fry, and watch the sky from the water’s edge. Reservations go fast on the 4th, so call ahead.
Grand Geneva: a Friday-night kickoff
The Grand Geneva Resort starts the holiday a day early with an all-day celebration and fireworks Friday night.
July 3 | 7036 Grand Geneva Way | All day, fireworks at dusk | Guests and reservations
The on-property fun includes live music, a glowing LED robot, an Uncle Sam stilt walker, and Tavern 1776, a pop-up bar lit by lantern light with portraits of the founding fathers. The day activities and dining are for resort, dining, golf, and spa guests with reservations. The fireworks themselves are free to watch, and non-guests can usually catch them from the Geneva Square shopping center parking lot or Veterans Park.
The Lake Geneva Country Club also runs a private show that same night, July 3, on the south shore of Geneva Lake. You don’t need a membership to enjoy it: it’s viewable from the east end of the lake or from a boat, and the cruise line’s July 3 fireworks tour is built around it.
Delavan: 10 days of America 250
Delavan goes bigger than anyone. The city and the Delavan Chamber put together a full 10 days of patriotic events, June 26 through July 5, with a Ken Burns screening, street dances, a historic wagon tour with the mayor, an outdoor market, and two separate fireworks nights. Most of it is free. The complete schedule lives at visitdelavanwi.com.
City of Delavan Independence Day: July 4 | Borg Stadium, Delavan-Darien High School | Fireworks 9:00 PM | Free
The 4th itself runs all day, starting with the Fire Department pancake breakfast at 7:00 AM and a parade through downtown in the afternoon. American Legion Post 95 presents the flag ceremony at Borg Stadium, and the fireworks grand finale launches at 9:00 PM.
Darien sits right next door, and the Delavan-Darien High School fireworks are the closest show for Darien Weekenders , so the 4th plan there is an easy drive into Delavan.
Elkhorn: Star Spangled Celebration
The county seat gets the holiday started Friday, which makes Elkhorn a perfect first stop on a long weekend.
July 3 | Sunset Park, 200 Devendorf St. | Festivities 5:00 PM, fireworks at dusk | Free
Live music from the Holton Band, food and snacks from Elkhorn FFA and 4-H, and fireworks once it’s dark. Sunset Park is easy to reach and parking is far simpler than the lakefront shows. More at the City of Elkhorn.
Whitewater: four days at Cravath Lakefront Park
Whitewater runs a full festival, not just a fireworks night.
July 2 to July 5 | Cravath Lakefront Park, 341 S. Fremont St. | Fireworks July 4, 9:45 PM | Free to attend
The carnival opens at 4:00 PM Thursday, July 2, with the pageant at 6:00 PM. July 3 brings the carnival, a beer tent, and live music. The 4th is the big day: the Whippet Mile race at 9:30 AM, the America 250 parade at 10:00 AM, live music starting at 11:00 AM, and fireworks over Cravath Lake at 9:45 PM, rain or shine. July 5 wraps up with a petting zoo, dunk tank, and balloon artist starting at noon. The carnival wristband runs $25. Full schedule at whitewater4th.com.
Twin Lakes: Libertyfest on Lake Mary
Twin Lakes keeps it classic, with the fireworks Friday and the parade Saturday.
Libertyfest: July 3 | Lance Park | 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM | Free
Food, a beer tent, and a DJ lead into the Aquanut Water Ski Show on Lake Mary, then fireworks over the lake at dusk. The Aquanuts are one of Wisconsin’s premier show-ski teams performing on home water, and it’s worth getting there for.
Libertyfest Parade: July 4 | 11:00 AM | Lakewood School to Lance Park | Free
A true small-town parade through one of the county’s most charming communities. Genoa City sits just a few minutes south, so Twin Lakes is the natural pick for that corner of the region.
Lauderdale Lakes: fireworks from the water
If you’ve got a boat, Lauderdale Lakes is the move.
July 4 | Don Jean Bay | 9:30 PM | Free (rain date July 5)
The Lauderdale Lakes Yacht Club runs its show over Don Jean Bay with patriotic music synced to WLKG 96.1 FM. Anchor up and tune in. Details at the yacht club.
Burlington and Lyons: the eastern edge
Burlington keeps its 4th community-focused, with fireworks over the festival grounds off Maryland Avenue (behind Walgreens). Echo Park gives you good viewing. Browns Lake adds a second night with its Venetian Festival fireworks on July 5, so Burlington-area Weekenders get two shows in one weekend.
The village of Lyons runs a full day at Veterans Park with rides, food, an afternoon parade, live music into the evening, and fireworks at dusk. It’s a low-key, family-first way to spend the holiday on the eastern side of the area.
Sharon: a true small-town 4th
Sharon delivers one of the most genuine small-town celebrations in the county.
July 4 | Goodland Memorial Park, 111 Church St. | Festivities 11:00 AM, fireworks at dusk | Free
The parade steps off at 11:00 AM through downtown, followed by live music, food, a craft fair, and a beer garden running through the day. Fireworks close it out after dark.

Frequently asked questions
Where are the fireworks over Geneva Lake on the 4th of July?
Fontana. The village launches its show from the west end of Geneva Lake at dusk on July 4, viewable from Fontana Beach, Reid Park, the west-end shoreline, or a boat. It’s the only fireworks display over Geneva Lake itself on Independence Day. The city of Lake Geneva does a drone show at Flat Iron Park instead.
Does Williams Bay have fireworks on the 4th of July?
No. Williams Bay’s lakefront fireworks happen in August during the Lions Club Corn & Brat fest, not on the 4th. On July 4, Williams Bay hosts the Lions Club Pancake Day and Craft Fair at Edgewater Park from 7:00 AM to 12:30 PM. For fireworks that night, head to nearby Fontana.
Can I watch the Geneva National fireworks if I’m not a member?
Yes. The Geneva National cookout and fireworks on July 4 are private, but the show goes up over Lake Como and is easy to see from the lake’s south shore. The Lodge, The Getaway, and Mars Resort all sit on the Como south shore and make a good dinner-and-fireworks spot. Reserve early.
What is Lake Geneva doing instead of fireworks this year?
A drone show. At Liberty on the Lake on July 4, more than 200 lighted drones fly over Geneva Lake at 9:00 PM at Flat Iron Park. The evening starts at 5:00 PM with food trucks and live music. It’s free.
Are there fireworks on July 3 near Lake Geneva?
Several. Elkhorn’s Star Spangled Celebration at Sunset Park, the Grand Geneva Resort show (free to view from Veterans Park or the Geneva Square lot), the Lake Geneva Country Club show at the east end of the lake, and Twin Lakes Libertyfest at Lance Park all light up on July 3.
Where can I watch fireworks from a boat?
Fontana’s July 4 show is a favorite from the water on Geneva Lake. Lauderdale Lakes runs its display over Don Jean Bay on the 4th, made for boaters. And the Lake Geneva Cruise Line runs dedicated fireworks tours on July 3 from Riviera Docks.
Thinking about more than a weekend?
