Hey Lake Lovers,

August is standing right there at the end of the week, which means the summer calendar has stopped politely asking for your attention and started grabbing you by the collar. Saturday, August 1 alone has a three-day music festival in full swing, a breast cancer walkathon on the Shore Path, the 65th Corn and Bratwurst Festival in Walworth, a car show at the same park, and a free water ski show on Elkhorn Lake.

From Monday, July 27 through Monday, August 3, you can hit a farmers market on four different days, catch water ski teams on two different lakes, and see a Supertramp tribute and an ELO tribute at the same theater within 48 hours of each other.

Delavan, Fontana, Williams Bay, Walworth, Elkhorn, East Troy, Whitewater, and Burlington all have something worth the drive this week. Downtown Lake Geneva does not have to carry the whole weekend.

Yerkes Observatory Open House: The Wonders of Physics

The Wonders of Physics outreach team from the UW-Madison physics department opens the night with a demonstration show, then the observatory opens up for exhibits, more demos, and a look at the world’s largest refracting telescope. Parking is on-site this year instead of the old trolley-from-the-school setup, which means fewer tickets are sold for each open house. Rain or shine. Buy ahead or you will not get in.

Ladies Must Swing at the Phoenix Park Bandshell

An all-woman big band opens the bandshell’s three-night weekend. Delavan was a ballroom town in the 1930s and 1940s, back when Lawrence Welk was working these rooms, so a swing band on that stage is closer to a homecoming than a novelty. Food and beer are sold on site. Bring a chair or use the dance floor.

Rob’s Alibi at Booth Lake Music in the Park

Pink the Lake Walkathon

A sea of pink walking the Geneva Lake Shore Path to raise money for breast cancer early detection and education. Proceeds split between the Wisconsin Breast Cancer Coalition and My Density Matters, both 501(c)(3) nonprofits. The walk package includes a shirt, wristband, event map, and medal.

Two practical notes the organizers make plainly. There are no shuttles, so coordinate with another walker to leave a car at your end point. And the Shore Path is uneven terrain, so no strollers, no wheelchairs, no bikes, and no dogs. Wear real shoes and bring water.

The Pink Party

The evening half of Pink the Lake. Food, music, drinks, raffles, and a downtown room full of people who walked 8 miles that morning and earned it. Raffle ticket sales end at noon on event day.

65th Annual Corn and Bratwurst Festival

Saturday, August 1, 11AM to 8PM Devil’s Lane Park, Walworth, across from Big Foot High School

The Geneva Lake West Rotary Club has run this for 65 years and it is still 100% volunteer. Ticket price covers two roasted ears of corn, a grilled bratwurst, and a non-alcoholic beverage. There is a beer tent, live entertainment all day, and a dunk tank stocked with local celeBRATies, which is the Rotary’s joke and not mine.

Drive-thru service is available if you want the corn without the commitment. Proceeds go back into the Geneva Lake West community through youth programs, senior services, and student scholarships.

Get there hungry. Two ears of corn is not a suggestion.

Walworth Immanuel Church cream puff and eclair sale

Held in conjunction with the Corn and Brat Fest, two hours before the festival gates open. This is the kind of thing that never makes a tourism calendar and is exactly why people move here. They sell out.

American Legion Post 102 New and Classic Car Show

Ingalls-Koeppen Post 102 runs the car show in conjunction with the Rotary festival, same park, same hours. All years, makes, and models welcome. The $20 car entry donation includes a 50/50 raffle entry for the day-of drawing, and proceeds support local veterans.

Corn, brats, a beer tent, and a lot full of Chevys. One parking lot, one afternoon, no admission argument.

Geneva Jam Music Festival, Day 2

Williams Bay Lions Corn & Brat Fest

The Lions have been running this since the club started serving Williams Bay in 1946, and it is still the most Wisconsin thing on the calendar. 46th Annual Art in the Park

More than 80 juried artists line the lakefront with pottery, glass, jewelry, photography, sculpture, wood, fiber, and painting. There is a silent auction tent, a Just for Kids make-and-take in the gazebo, food trucks along the water, and a free shuttle running every 20 minutes from designated lots.

This is the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation’s main fundraiser of the year, and it draws heavily from Chicago and Milwaukee. Downtown parking on that Saturday is a competitive sport. Use the shuttle.

Venetian Festival, 64th Annual

Wednesday, August 19 through Sunday, August 23 Flat Iron Park, Library Park, and Seminary Park, downtown Lake Geneva

The Lake Geneva Jaycees have been running this since 1962, and it is still the biggest week of the year here. Five days across three downtown parks with a carnival, an entertainment pavilion, a beer tent, a water ski show, and enough brat smoke to find the place blindfolded.

Carnival hours run 5PM to 10PM Wednesday and Thursday, 5PM to 11:30PM Friday, noon to 11:30PM Saturday, and noon to 10:30PM Sunday. Wristband specials are on Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Rides for smaller kids sit in Seminary Park, half a block off the main grounds. The Entertainment Pavilion and beer tent are 21 and over, with a $5 cover daily after 6PM.

The Arts and Craft Fair takes over Library Park on Saturday, August 22 from 10AM to 5PM and Sunday, August 23 from 10AM to 4PM, with more than 100 artists. The Baggo tournament runs Saturday from 11:30AM to 3PM, and the Car and Bike Show lands in Seminary Park on Sunday.

Sunday night is the reason people plan a year ahead. The Wonder Lake Ski Team performs at 6PM off Library Park and the Riviera, then the lighted boat parade starts at dusk and the largest fireworks display on Geneva Lake follows shortly after. Anywhere along the downtown waterfront works for viewing, and it fills early.

Book lodging now. This is the hardest weekend of the year in Lake Geneva for a hotel room and a parking spot.

Maxwell Street Days

Almost 30 years of the annual summer sidewalk sale, run by the Lake Geneva Business Improvement District. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, gifts, artwork, sporting goods, and books go out on the sidewalks at real end-of-season discounts, with live music, buskers, and patio dining running through the weekend.

This is the locals’ shopping weekend. If you have picked up something on Broad Street in July, looked at the tag, and quietly put it back, this is the weekend you come get it. The BID posts a list of participating shops and a separate music and outdoor dining guide closer to the date.

177th Walworth County Fair

Wednesday, September 2 through Monday, September 7 Walworth County Fairgrounds, 411 E. Court St., Elkhorn Ticketed

Wisconsin’s largest county fair, on 99 acres, and one of the oldest in the country. The 2026 theme is “Glitter and Gold: A Fair to Behold,” which also marks 60 years of the Fairest of the Fair contest. Livestock exhibits, agricultural displays, daily butterfly releases, Barnyard Adventure classes, carnival rides, and the food you have been thinking about since last September.

Grandstand schedule: Rice Pro Rodeo with Bella Cain on Wednesday, September 2 at 5:30PM. Pro Truck and Tractor Pulls Thursday, September 3 at 7PM. Friday, September 4 is to be announced. Lynyrd Skynyrd Saturday, September 5 at 7:30PM. Ludacris with guest DJ Bizzon Sunday, September 6 at 7:30PM. The Demolition Derby closes it out on Labor Day with shows at 12:30PM, 3PM, and 5:30PM.

Buy grandstand tickets through the fair. The fair has stated it is the only authorized seller of admission and grandstand tickets, which is worth repeating every year because somebody always finds a resale listing and pays triple.

What a week like this actually tells you about living here

A calendar this full is the part of lake life that a listing photo cannot capture.

You see it in a Friday morning market at Edgewater Park that turns into a three-day festival one week later. You see it in a village of about 2,500 people throwing a party that pulls visitors in from four counties.
