WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE LAKE
Wee Whiskey Fest 2026 Is Back and It Is Not Playing Around
HEY LAKE LOVERS — Kim and Joel Reyenga here with your weekly look at what is going on around beautiful Geneva Lake. And this particular weekend, the lake smells like oak barrels and good decisions, because Wee Whiskey Fest 2026 is here. April 17 through 19. Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. Three full days of whiskey tastings, pairing dinners, live music, a burlesque show, a closing party in an outdoor beer garden, and the Grand Tasting at Grand Geneva Resort.
This is the third year of this festival. Year one felt like a great idea. Year two felt like a real event. Year three? They moved the Grand Tasting to Grand Geneva’s Grand Ballroom, added a pre-event dinner cruise on Geneva Lake, and brought in over 50 distilleries. So we’d say year three is officially the one.
What is happening at Lake Geneva this weekend? Wee Whiskey Fest 2026 runs April 17 through 19 across multiple downtown Lake Geneva locations, presented by Grand Geneva Resort and the Geneva Lakes Whiskey Club. The weekend includes whiskey tastings, pairing dinners, a Bourbon and Burlesque variety show, the Grand Tasting at Grand Geneva with 150+ bourbons and whiskies, a Cocktail Contest at 9 downtown bars, and a Sunday Irish Goodbye Closing Party.
One thing worth understanding about this festival before you make your plans: this is not a single-venue, buy-one-ticket, show-up-and-wander situation. Wee Whiskey Fest is a full weekend of individual events scattered across downtown Lake Geneva. Some are included with your festival ticket. Several are ticketed separately and priced a la carte. Knowing that upfront saves a lot of confusion.
Ticket packages start at $125 for Small Batch general admission, which gets you into the Saturday Grand Tasting. As of this writing, the Barrel Strength ($195 VIP), The Highlander ($295 premium VIP), and Bottled-in-Bond ($1,195 ultimate couples experience) packages are sold out. Small Batch is still available. Tickets are at Eventbrite: eventbrite.com
Thursday, April 16: A Bonus Night You Might Not Have Known About
Technically the festival runs April 17 through 19. But there is a pre-event on Thursday the 16th that is worth building a whole extra night around.
Whiskey on the Water Dinner Cruise
Pier 290 | 1 Leichty Drive, Williams Bay, WI | 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Tickets via sevenrooms.com
A whiskey pairing dinner cruise aboard the Historic Lady of the Lake on Geneva Lake, run in partnership with Whistle Pig Distillery. Pier 290 is the only waterfront restaurant directly on Geneva Lake, and the Lady of the Lake is one of the most beautiful ways to see the lake at dusk. This event is separately ticketed from the main festival and you do not need a Wee Whiskey Fest pass to attend.
Friday, April 17: The Whiskey Crawl Begins
Friday is the warm-up day. A few focused, intimate tastings during the evening hours, then things get considerably more theatrical after 9.
Cocktail Contest Presented by Chattanooga Whiskey
Multiple locations, downtown Lake Geneva | Friday through Sunday at 5 p.m. | No separate ticket required
A city-wide cocktail competition using Chattanooga Tennessee High Malt Bourbon 91 as the base spirit for every entry. Nine downtown bars and restaurants each craft their own original cocktail, and you vote for your favorite. The winning establishment takes home the perpetual Wee Whiskey Fest Cocktail Contest Trophy.
The 9 participating establishments: Barrique (835 Wrigley Drive), Oakfire (831 Wrigley Drive), Fat Cats (104 Broad Street), Topsy Turvy (727 Geneva Street), Flat Iron (150 Center Street), Champs (747 W. Main Street), The Bottle Shop (617 W. Main Street), Magpies Den and Pen (642 W. Main Street), and Maxwell Mansion (304 S. Wells Street).
That is a very solid excuse to spend your whole weekend walking downtown Lake Geneva. Not that you needed one.
Sip and Dip with Garrison Brothers
The Bottle Shop | 617 W. Main Street, Lake Geneva | 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. | $25 per person | Tickets on Eventbrite
Garrison Brothers is the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas. At this session you get a premium tasting experience and the option to buy and dip your own bottle in hot wax. Yes, that is as satisfying as it sounds.
VIP Exclusive Tasting with 2XO Whiskey
Maxwell Mansion | 304 S. Wells Street, Lake Geneva | 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. | Included for Highlander and Bottled-in-Bond ticket holders only
A private tasting at the historic Maxwell Mansion with multiple pours of 2XO Whiskey, commentary from brand ambassadors, and light bites and charcuterie in one of the more beautiful interior spaces in Lake Geneva.
Meet the Master Blender with J. Henry and Sons
Oakfire | 831 Wrigley Drive, Lake Geneva | 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. | $35 per person | Tickets on Eventbrite
J. Henry and Sons is a Wisconsin bourbon brand with a genuinely good story. Joe Henry speaks about the history of the distillery while you taste rare samples. Held at Oakfire pizza — good wood-fired smells while you drink interesting bourbon. Could be worse.
Bourbon and Burlesque Variety Show
Celebration on Wells | 422 S. Wells Street, Lake Geneva | 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. | $78.50 per person | Tickets on Eventbrite
Hosted by Dancing Goat Distillery. Performed by K-Town Burlesque. Described on the festival site as “a sexy, hilarious night of adult entertainment.” This is an adults-only event. The kind of event that people talk about Monday morning and you either want to be in that conversation or you don’t.
Saturday, April 18: The Big One
Saturday is the center of the whole weekend. The Grand Tasting. The pairing dinners. The VIP party at Maxwell Mansion. The late-night party at Magpies. It is a long, excellent day.
The Grand Tasting at Grand Geneva Resort
Grand Geneva Resort, Grand Ballroom | 7036 Grand Geneva Way, Lake Geneva, WI
VIP Early Entry: 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. (Barrel Strength, Highlander, Bottled-in-Bond only)
General Admission: 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. (all ticket holders) | Included with all ticket packages
This is the headline event. Over 50 distilleries. More than 150 bourbons and whiskies available in half-ounce pours. Live music and entertainment throughout. Hors d’oeuvres, charcuterie, and desserts included. VIP ticket holders get an exclusive extra hour starting at 2 p.m. with premium pours not available during general admission.
The Geneva Lakes Whiskey Club describes this event as specifically focused on craft and smaller distilleries. The “Wee” in Wee Whiskey Fest is Scottish for “small,” and the original concept was always to spotlight the distilleries you might not have encountered at bigger festivals. Grand Geneva’s Grand Ballroom is a legitimate venue. Doing this there makes a real difference.

Whiskey Pairing Dinners and Bourbon and Bites
Multiple downtown Lake Geneva restaurants | 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
After the Grand Tasting, participating restaurants around downtown have curated whiskey pairing experiences for festival guests. Options range from full multi-course pairing dinners to casual bourbon bar bites. Full restaurant list at weewhiskeyfest.com/restaurants
VIP Party at Maxwell Mansion
Maxwell Mansion | 304 S. Wells Street, Lake Geneva | 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. | Barrel Strength, Highlander, and Bottled-in-Bond ticket holders
Live music, snacks, and whiskey specials inside the historic Maxwell Mansion. If you have ever wanted to attend a cocktail party in a 19th-century mansion in downtown Lake Geneva, this is your window.
Distinguished Hooligans Saturday Night Party
Magpies Den and Pen | 642 W. Main Street, Lake Geneva | 9 p.m. to late | All ticket holders
Magpies was named Visit Lake Geneva Business of the Year in 2024. It is a bookshop-cafe concept that somehow works as a late-night party venue too. All ticket holders are invited for more distillery samples (announced closer to the event), festival swag, and live entertainment.
Sunday, April 19: Sunday Funday, Whiskey Edition
Sunday has its own momentum. The festival winds down slowly and then all at once.
Boozy Brunch at Barrique
Barrique Bistro | 835 Wrigley Drive, Lake Geneva | 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | A la carte menu
Wild Mushroom Pop Up Kitchen is running the food at Barrique on Sunday morning, with whiskey cocktails and unlimited mimosas. Barrique has what may be the best view of Geneva Lake of any restaurant in town. The combination of that lakefront window, a pop-up kitchen menu, and unlimited mimosas on a Sunday morning after a big Saturday is a complete sentence.
Driftless Glen Whiskey Pairing Experience
Topsy Turvy | 727 Geneva Street, Lake Geneva | 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. | $35 per person | Tickets on Eventbrite
Driftless Glen is a premium Wisconsin distillery. This session covers the distillery’s history, samples from their bourbon lineup, and food pairings to match. The venue is Topsy Turvy, a converted church in the heart of downtown Lake Geneva. That is a genuine detail, not embellishment. The building used to be a church. Now it is a brewery and event space. Lake Geneva contains multitudes.
VIP Exclusive Tasting with Four Roses Bourbon
Barrique Bistro | 835 Wrigley Drive, Lake Geneva | 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. | Included for Highlander and Bottled-in-Bond ticket holders
A private Four Roses Bourbon tasting with brand ambassadors, light bites, charcuterie, and a lakefront view. This is the second of two VIP-only exclusive brand experiences built into the top-tier ticket packages (the first was 2XO on Friday night).
Irish Goodbye Closing Party with Keeper’s Heart
Champs | 747 W. Main Street, Lake Geneva | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. | All ticket holders welcome
Keeper’s Heart Irish American Whiskey closes out the whole weekend at Champs’ outdoor beer garden. Live Irish music, dancing, and whiskey samples from Keeper’s Heart. The festival site says you are welcome to join “or not,” which is extremely good energy for a closing party. But it is Sunday afternoon at an outdoor beer garden in Lake Geneva in April with live Irish music, so the case for showing up is pretty strong.
A Note on the Cocktail Contest
Nine bars. One base spirit. All weekend. Chattanooga Tennessee High Malt Bourbon 91 is what every establishment is working with, which makes this a genuine test of creativity rather than just ingredient sourcing. Drop into any or all of the 9 participating spots across the weekend, try the house cocktail, and vote.
The full map is on the festival website at weewhiskeyfest.com/cocktail-contest. The winner gets the perpetual trophy and bragging rights.
How to Plan Your Weekend
All ticketing runs through Eventbrite. The Small Batch general admission at $125 is the currently available ticket and includes the Saturday Grand Tasting plus access to the Saturday and Sunday evening parties. Individual a la carte events (Garrison Brothers, J. Henry and Sons, Driftless Glen, Bourbon and Burlesque) are each ticketed separately.

See You Out There
This is also the kind of weekend that makes people start asking different questions. If you have been coming to Lake Geneva for events like this one and wondering what it would be like to have a place here year-round, we would love to talk. Kim and Joel know this town, these neighborhoods, and how to find the right fit for Chicago families looking for a lake home just 90 minutes away.
See you out there. Dram in hand.
